#19.2025 – The splendour of the ‘String’time.
Following a glorious evening with Siobhan Miller who started the ‘south of the border’ leg of her uk tour in Cambridge (Read the review) this week, I have taken a bit of Scottish Adventure in my musical gatherings. This week Iona Fyfe leads the way as Scottish flag bearer. He beautiful track ‘Love Story (Scots Version)’ leads us into a gorgeous spring time list. I wanted to pay homage to the the fiddle this week (hence the quirky title) and so I would strongly recomend Rebecca Hill and Charlie Stewart, who’s Harp and Fiddle combo is outstanding. Their sensational Out On The Roof fills me with joy and is the perfect way to set the tone for this week’s list.
Emma Miller, and her wonderful rendition of ‘Wild Mountain Thyme‘ and Beth Malcolms stunning song ‘The Mountain (Glen Artney)‘ give the top of this list a really heady dose of Scottish countryside. Beth’s album Folkmosis has been featured before and I love the stories and life baked into it. The breezy melody and the traditional truth at the heart of both of these songs is spellbinding and I hope you are transported to a cool spring morning surrounded by heather.
Milton Hide‘s super album new album bungaroosh is outstanding and such a brilliant collection of songs. I have chosen ‘Old Tom’s Story‘ for the list this week, but I could really have picked anything from the full on romp of an album.
I really hope you love this week’s list.
